Gen3 fixes in the works

Latest changes to rectify early problems and parity concerns explained in PARKED UP PLUS podcast.

17 April 2023

Supercars is rushing to fix Gen3 problems by next week’s round in Perth. Repairability and fire-proofing measures have been approved following car-destroying incidents at Newcastle and Albert Park.

The latest PARKED UP PLUS podcast outlines the changes, along with updates on Centre of Gravity and engine parity moves. Listen here:

Also, more details on the new ‘super circuit’ at Avalon that will eventually take over from Sandown as Supercars’ new home in the Melbourne area.

Planning for an international track alongside Avalon Airport just off the freeway between Melbourne and Geelong has been officially confirmed by the Victoria government.

PARKED UP PLUS hears from Ben Bargwanna – young rising star son of 2000 Bathurst 1000 winner Jason – about his assault on the first two rounds of the new TCR World Tour.

Bargs Jnr will race a Peugeot 308 TCR at Portimao in Portugal next week and Belgium’s famed Spa-Franchorchamps at the end of next month.

The nine-event World Tour for the two-litre turbo terriers will peak in Australia in November, with Sydney Motorsport Park joining Bathurst on successive weekends.

It marks the return of international touring car racing to these shores – last seen in the Super Touring Bathurst 1000s in 1997/98 during the peak of the two-litre versus V8 war.

While no threat to Supercars, TCR is booming worldwide and two Australian rounds will give local stars like Tony D’Alberto and Will Brown – as well as Bargwanna – to qualify for next year’s World Final run-off.

All this and more is on PARKED UP PLUS, the place of pace for motor racing news every week.
