Van Gisbergen to cut loose at Bathurst

In an ominous warning to rivals, Shane van Gisbergen tells PARKED UP PLUS that he won’t be backing off at Bathurst.

19 September 2022

Shane van Gisbergen has vowed to race even harder in next month’s Repco Bathurst 1000.

Already in devastating form, van Gisbergen will be going full attack to win the big race without the pressure of a title battle in the background.

His championship points lead is so big that he feels he can afford to be aggressive.

In the latest PARKED UP PLUS podcast, SVG reveals that in previous years when he was in title contention, he approached the Bathurst 1000 conservatively, racing for points ahead of going all out for victory.

As well as his take-no-prisoners approach, SVG opens up on being the overwhelming favourite to dominate at Mount Panorama on October 9.

The versatile Kiwi also talks about competing in New Zealand’s restored round of the World Rally Championship next week before jetting back for Bathurst.

Bathurst will be the first track appearance of the new-look Ford Mustang. The Gen3 Mustang prototype is getting a makeover with body panels that mimic the appearance of the seventh-generation model, unveiled in Detroit late last week.

PARKED UP PLUS hears from Ford Performance racing boss Mark Rushbrook about why Supercars plays a key role in the Blue Oval’s global competition plans for the new Mustang.

Also, Scott McLaughlin explains why he won’t be doing a Gen3 test when he returns as a guest TV commentator at the Adelaide 500.

All this and more on the latest PARKED UP PLUS podcast, hosted by motorsport journalist of the year Mark Fogarty.
