Supercars to remain on AGP program
Albert Park will retain V8s for another three years with the extension of the contract between the AGP Corporation and Supercars until 2029
Supercars has long been a fan favourite amongst race goers at the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix and it will remain on the support card for a further three years after extending its contract with the AGP Corporation.
Australia’s premier touring-car racing series, which brings a thrilling door-to-door racing spectacle, has a fan-facing base in Motorsport Straight at the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit, which includes Supercars Podium and Paddock access for all ticketholders.
The opportunity to get up close to the team garages proved incredibly popular among fans and drivers when the category moved to the Motorsport Straight Precinct in 2025.
Supercars first raced at Albert Park as part of the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix in the event’s debut in 1996, with the event becoming a full championship round in 2018. The driver who accumulates the most points over the four races of Grand Prix weekend takes home the Larry Perkins Trophy, named for the legendary Supercars and Formula 1 driver.
With races every day of the AGP in 2026, fans who have yet to get tickets have one last chance to catch the action at Albert Park, with only Thursday tickets remaining after Friday, Saturday and Sunday sold out in record time.

Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO, Travis Auld, said Supercars are one of the most revered categories in the motorsport world, with drivers from all over the world eager to get behind the wheel as seen in recent years with F1 stars jumping at the opportunity when they come to Melbourne.
“It’s incredibly exciting to have the Supercars Championship join us for another three years, we know they are a fan favourite and add a huge amount of entertainment to the four days at Albert Park,” he said.
