Supercars locks in race formats for 2022
The 2022 Repco Supercars Championship race and qualifying formats revealed.

The race formats for the 2022 Repco Supercars Championship have been confirmed.
The Townsville, Gold Coast and Newcastle rounds will feature two 250km races, while the season gets underway with two 300km races in Sydney.
The Albert Park round will feature four 100km races, while the sprint events will once again include three races.
The Bathurst 1000 is the only endurance event of the season, back in its traditional date in October. The Sandown sprint round will feature an additional drivers’ session for co-drivers ahead of Bathurst.
The Sydney and Perth rounds will be under lights, while Perth, Tasmania, Winton, Darwin, Tailem Bend and Pukekohe will be two-day events.
Three qualifying formats will be used across the season, defined as Format 1, Format 2 and Format 3.
Format 1 will see grid positions determined by a single qualifying session; Format 2 will feature the three-part knockout qualifying; and Format 3 is the knockout qualifying followed by a shootout. Sydney, Darwin, Townsville, Sandown, Bathurst, Gold Coast and Newcastle feature shootout sessions.
