Story to miss Sydney 500
Team boss Dr Ryan Story struck down with virus.
Dick Johnson Racing has released a statement announcing that its team principal, Dr Ryan Story, will not attend the upcoming Sydney 500.
“The Shell V-Power Racing Team wishes to advise that Team Principal, Dr Ryan Story AM, will not attend the opening round of the Repco Supercars Championship,” the statement read.
“Dr Story was recently in America where he unfortunately picked up a virus and since returning to Australia was briefly hospitalised for treatment.
“Dr Story remains in good spirits and plans to return to the team’s Stapylton HQ as soon as his health allows.”
Story has been battling health issues in recent years, but had returned to lead the team last year.
The team’s co-owner Brett Ralph and CEO David Noble will hold down the fort while Story recovers.
“Shell V-Power Racing Team Co-Owner Brett Ralph, CEO David Noble and Team Manager Mark Fenning will be the team’s key contacts at the opening round, as well as the team’s upcoming shakedown and test days,” the statement concluded.
