Stanaway joins Grove Racing in 2024

Grove Racing has announced that Richie Stanaway will team with fellow Kiwi Matt Payne in 2024.

Stanaway will replace David Reynolds in the Penrite-backed entry. Reynolds is tipped to be heading to Team 18 in 2024, with his departure from Grove Racing confirmed earlier today.

It will be Stanaway’s full-time return to Supercars for the first time since 2019. After taking a break from motorsport, Stanaway impressed in a Erebus Motorsport wildcard entry at Bathurst in 2022, qualifying in fifth place. He will partner Shane van Gisbergen at Triple Eight Race Engineering in the endurance events in 2023.

“I would like to thank Penrite Racing for the incredible opportunity to be a part of the team next year,” said Stanaway.

“I’ve been impressed by the direction the team has been heading in recent years and have been enjoying my time in the Gen3 era thus far so I am excited to see what we can achieve together.” 

Team owner Stephen Grove added:  “As we continue to build the race team, securing a driver of Richie’s calibre is extremely exciting; giving the team the opportunity to challenge for race wins and championships. Richie’s experience and feedback will be great for the team to further develop moving forward.
