Spring roll for Brodie and Erebus

Chiko backing serves up Bathurst blitz as Supercars expansion plans take shape

Kostecki and Hazelwood
14 October 2024

It was a race of redemption for Supercars champions Brodie Kostecki and Erebus Motorsport, dominating the Repco Bathurst 1000 to regain their winning form.

After the dramas and struggles of the past 10 months, Kostecki was unstoppable as he won from pole in a flat-out race to the flag.

It was also redemption for co-driver Todd Hazelwood, breaking through for his first Supercars victory after years in the full-time wilderness.

Adding to their storybook success, their Chevrolet Camaro was backed by locally made Chiko Roll in what was a late, one-off sponsorship deal.

The latest Road To Bathurst podcast, powered by VACC Automotive Apprenticeships, reviews the race and what the result means for the battle for the Supercars driver’s title with two rounds to go.

There’s also the latest news, headlined by Supercars’ renewed push for overseas expansion.

Series supremo Shane Howard confirms active interest in a second event in New Zealand, proposing a trans-Tasman double-header as soon as 2026, and also reveals that there’s renewed interest from the F1 Singapore Grand Prix.

And amid debate about the new Finals format from next year, Howard declares that there’s no turning back on the radical change to how the championship is decided.

Road To Bathurst also hears from the boss of Toyota Design Australia Nic Hogios on the challenge of making the GR Supra shape fit the Gen3 platform.

The TDA styling team made a full-size model of the Aussie Supra racer that was shown at Mount Panorama over the weekend, attracting a lot of interest.

It’s all in the latest Road To Bathurst podcast – along with the exciting news that the same team will continue to the end of the season.

Again powered by VACC Automotive Apprenticeships, ‘Race For The Championship’ takes over from next Monday, counting down to the likely title-decider in Adelaide next month.
