Sandown set to stay

Sandown looks like staying around longer than expected, with Supercars planning to race there for at least a few more years.
 
The Sandown 500’s return next year is the first step towards a new deal to keep the pre-Bathurst 1000 two-driver enduro going.
 
In the latest PARKED UP PLUS podcast, Supercars supremo Shane Howard confirms that talks are underway with the Melbourne Racing Club, which owns the suburban track in southeast Melbourne.

Howard also reveals that Supercars wants to stage a special Sandown 500 in 2024 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of touring car endurance races at the circuit.
 
As well, he tag-teams with Supercars head of motorsport Adrian Burgess to hose down concerns that there is dissent about the Gen3 aerodynamic parity process following the final round of VCAT verification with the Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang prototypes. However, they concede that the full homologation process still hasn’t been finalised – and explain why.
