PODCAST: Jones eyes 1000 and full-time V8 future

Harri Jones says a strong debut in The Bend 500 at Tailem Bend has given him confidence heading into his first Bathurst 1000 as he works to secure a full-time Supercars seat for 2026.

The 25-year-old Queenslander partnered Anton De Pasquale at Team 18 for his maiden enduro, finishing inside the top 10.

“I was happy with the weekend,” Jones told Jax Tyres & Auto Race for the Championship’s Allan Edwards.

“There were a few little strategy things that let us down, but overall we had a very strong car and it was a good benchmark leading into Bathurst.”

Jones describes Mount Panorama as his favourite circuit and admits racing there ina Supercar has long been a dream.

“It’s the biggest race in the country, the one every Australian driver wants to compete in. To finally get the chance in a Supercar is a bucket-list item for sure,” he said.

While he acknowledges winning is the ultimate goal, Jones said his focus is on executing well.

“Every driver goes to a race to win, but you need to focus on the process more than the outcome. The results follow if you perform as you should.”

Looking beyond Bathurst, Jones has made no secret of his desire for a full-time drive in 2026.

“That’s my number one priority right now,” he explained.

“It’s about talking to team owners and managers up and down pit lane, making sure people know you’re keen”.

Jones’ pathway to Supercars has been unconventional. After stints in open wheelers and Porsche racing in Australia, he campaigned in Europe, contesting the Porsche Supercup and racing on circuits such as Monaco and Spa. He later returned home, winning the Carrera Cup Australia championship and founding his own squad, Jones Motorsport, to help develop young drivers.

Now, with Bathurst looming and his future undecided, Jones knows the next two weeks could be pivotal.
