PODCAST: Dane returns as SCT on the move

One of the biggest names in Australian motorsport is back in charge – but this time at a different team.

As revealed in Jax Tyres & Auto Race for the Championship podcast, former Triple Eight Race Engineering boss Roland Dane will take over as Team Principal at Premier Racing from 2026.

The move follows his advisory role with the squad this year, and marks Dane’s full-time return to the Supercars pitlane.

During his time at Triple Eight, Dane built one of the most successful operations in Supercars history – delivering more than 250 race wins, over 100 round wins, 10 Bathurst victories, 11 drivers’ championships, and 12 teams’ titles. 

PremiAir Racing team owner Peter Xiberras says Dane’s leadership and experience will help elevate the Gold Coast-based outfit as it pushes to become a consistent front-runner.

Dane says PremiAir already has solid foundations but plenty of untapped potential, and he’s keen to drive improvement across every part of the program. 

It’s a major shake-up that signals PremiAir’s ambition to move into serious contention in the coming seasons. 

Another big shift is underway elsewhere in pit lane. 

Brad Jones Racing has confirmed its partnership with SCT Motorsport will end after the 2025 season – bringing to a close an eight-year collaboration that began in the Super2 Series in 2017 and stepped up to the main game in 2020.

SCT’s departure from the Albury-based team will mean only five Toyota Supras will be on the grid next year – three from BJR and two from homologation team WAU.

But SCT isn’t stepping away from Supercars. In fact, it’s ramping up – signing a new partnership with Triple Eight Race Engineering to field a third full-time car from 2026. 

The two-year deal will see SCT race a Ford Mustang, managed and raced alongside Triple Eight’s existing Red Bull Ampol Racing entries driven by Broc Feeney and Will Brown, as Triple Eight switches marques from GM to Ford.

Triple Eight Managing Director Jamie Whincup says he’s thrilled to welcome SCT Motorsport as the team expands back to a three-car program, praising SCT’s commitment to operating at the front. 

Andrew Jones, Head of Motorsport Programs at SCT Logistics, says the partnership provides the best platform yet for the team to achieve its ultimate goals – winning races, Bathurst, and a championship. 

Driver and livery details will be announced closer to the 2026 season.
