Chris Pither will replace Fabian Coulthard at the new-look PremiAir Racing in 2022.
Pither will drive alongside Garry Jacobson, who retains his place in the team formerly known as Team Sydney following its takeover by drag racer and businessman Peter Xiberras.
Xiberras purchased the team from Jonathon and Kobe Webb, fielding two Triple Eight Race Engineering-built Holden ZB Commodores for Pither and Jacobson in the upcoming season.
Pither’s signing leaves Coulthard without a full-time drive in Supercars for the first time since 2005. He is expected to be a key player in the endurance co-driver market.
Pither last raced full-time in Supercars for Team Sydney in 2020, finishing in 20th place in the championship standings. He joins PremiAir Racing on a one-year deal.
