Perkins and Murphy cars up for auction
Two iconic motor racing vehicles are available for purchase via the Collecting Cars online platform
The Larry Perkins and Russell Ingall 1997 Bathurst 1000-winning Holden Commodore V8 Supercar, now fully restored under the guidance of Larry’s son Jack Perkins, will be available to buy from next month, as will Greg Murphy’s Hellcat-powered 1969 Dodge Charger, a hand-crafted gem built by US custom car builders and restomod specialists, Ringbrothers.
Both cars will be available to purchase via online platform Collecting Cars’ Sealed Bids auction service.
“These two cars have undergone painstaking ground-up rebuilds,” head of APAC at Collecting Cars, Lee Hallett, said.
“It’s not often that cars of their provenance and finish become available to buy, so we encourage anyone interested in owning them to secure them quickly.”
The leading online auction platform for the sale of classic, performance and collectible cars, Collecting Cars, cleared 60 sold lots in January, a total of AU $4 million in sales.
The result is a healthy sign for the local collector car market and opens the door to a possible repeat of the company’s 2025 record results, which for the year totalled more than AU $80 million in local sales from just over 1,100 sold auction lots.
“Collecting Cars’ January sales results show that local collector car buyers and sellers weren’t dissuaded by the recent end-of-year holiday period,” Hallett said.
“February 2026 is already set to accelerate our results with a number of special cars heading to Collecting Cars, including some special machinery from two V8 Supercars legends.”
