MSR signs Tommy Smith to 2026 Super2 program
Aussie openwheel gun joins Queensland-based Super2 team
Matt Stone Racing has signed emerging Australian talent Tommy Smith. He will join the team for the 2026 Dunlop Super2 Series, racing alongside Aryton Hodson in a pair of ex-Triple Eight ZB Commodores.
Smith brings a unique and well-rounded background to MSR, having spent significant time racing overseas in openwheel categories such as F3 and Indy NXT, where he gained valuable international experience competing on some of the world’s most demanding circuits. His time abroad helped shape his race craft, adaptability, and technical understanding – attributes that have underpinned a strong resume.
Team Owner Matt Stone said the signing aligns perfectly with MSR’s long-standing commitment to driver development which the team is excited to reinstate in 2026 and beyond.
“MSR has a proud history as a development pathway, and we’re excited to be returning to our roots by investing in young, talented drivers like Tommy,” Stone said.
“Tommy’s experience has given him a level of maturity and ability beyond his years. We see great potential in him, and Super2 is the ideal environment for him to continue his progression within our program.”
Smith expressed his enthusiasm about joining MSR and stepping into the Dunlop Super2 Series.
