Mostert and Wood in for the long haul

Chaz Mostert and Ryan Wood are locked in long-term with Walkinshaw TWG Racing, with the team announcing multi-year extensions for both drivers.

The new deals for both Mostert and Wood extend their already existing contracts with the team.

Mostert, the reigning Supercars Champion, and Wood, one of the brightest young talents in the sport, will continue to lead the team in its new era as a Toyota homologation team.

In his seventh year with the team, Mostert has delivered 15 race wins, 59 podiums, a Bathurst 1000 win and a Supercars Championship, but is far from done with yet.

Wood, 22, joined the team in 2023 as a part of its Super2 program, and has rapidly risen through the ranks.

In his third Supercars Championship season, he has quickly proven that he belongs, most recently collecting Toyota’s maiden Supercars podium at the Australian Grand Prix. In season two, he scored his maiden Supercars win in Perth, along with seven further podium finishes and three pole positions.

Both drivers will be on track at this weekend at the Taupo Super440, a circuit that holds strong memories for both drivers, with Mostert claiming a race win and Wood securing his first Supercars podium at the track last year.

“This team has been like my family for the last seven years and there is no where I would rather be, so I’m pumped to know I’m here for the long haul,” Mostert said.

“We’ve had each other’s backs through the highs and lows over the years, we had some big goals when I joined, and as awesome as 2025 was to finally achieve what we worked so hard for, we aren’t done with yet.

“There’s no doubt this new era we started this year with Toyota is the most exciting yet, so much has happened already, and I can’t wait to see what the future brings. It was an easy decision from my end to keep going, and I’m glad the Team has showed the faith back … I think I might be up for long-service leave soon.

“Having Woody alongside me was important as well, there’s no doubt he has pushed me and made me a better driver, we have a lot of fun together, but importantly, we want to both make this team stronger which is really important to me.

“This team is one big family, I’m so proud to represent the guys and girls who work here on track, but also all our partners who make it possible, it’s a really special environment.”

Wood thanked Walkinshaw TWG Racing for taking a chance on him as a youngster.

“I’m so excited to continue to call Walkinshaw TWG Racing home for a long time. It wasn’t a hard decision to make, and didn’t take much thought to be honest, this is where I want to be long term,” he said.

“Walkinshaw TWG Racing took a punt on me back in 2023 and they’ve been my biggest supporters since, there is no other team I would want to continue my Supercars journey with.

“Having Chaz as my teammate long term is awesome as well. I’ve learnt so much from him in a short time, we push each other really well, and it’s great for everyone to have that continuity long term so we can just focus on the important stuff – and continue the trajectory we are on.

“A big thank you to the people that have had my back too, Mobil 1, Truck Assist, all our partners, and the team around me as well, I wouldn’t be in this position without them.

“It’s a family here, and we’ve got some big things ahead of us.”

Walkinshaw TWG Racing Director Ryan Walkinshaw said making sure both Chaz and Ryan were locked in long-term was a key priority for the team, and one that didn’t require any debate amongst the management.

“They are not only outstanding talents behind the wheel but help lead our culture perfectly. The way they work together is really important as well. They not only push each other to be better, they push us as a team to be better, and they ensure we are all working together, with the same goal in mind,” he said.

“Both of these long-term deals mean there’s no question marks; we can focus on winning races and hopefully winning more championships. We couldn’t be more excited to have them here with us well into the future.”
