Modified doors and rear panels for Mustangs

Ford teams will have new lightweight doors and rear quarter panels on their Mustangs from the Repco Bathurst 1000, in the latest attempt to address Gen3 parity concerns.

The new doors and rear quarter panels have been designed by Tickford Racing and DYC, with a saving of 5.84kg and a vehicle centre of gravity height reduction of 1.31mm.

It comes after Supercars announced a small increase to the minimum weight of the Gen3 vehicles to 1340kg prior to the Penrite Oil Sandown 500, where the Chevrolet Camaro once again had the edge over the Mustang.

The recent increase to 1340kg for both the Camaro and Mustang remains for the rest of the season.
