Kostecki claims second Larry Perkins Trophy

Brodie Kostecki has claimed his second Larry Perkins Trophy after a commanding performance across the Supercars races at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.

The Shell V-Power Racing Team driver won three of the four races at Albert Park, sealing the coveted trophy awarded to the most successful driver across the Grand Prix Supercars round.

Starting the final race from third on the grid, Kostecki hunted down early leader Will Brown before making a decisive move at Turn 11 to take control of the race. From there, the Dick Johnson Racing Ford Mustang pulled clear to secure the win and cap a dominant weekend.

The result also lifted Kostecki to the lead of the Repco Supercars Championship standings after two rounds.

“What a fantastic weekend for everyone at Shell V-Power Racing,” Kostecki said.

“This Ford Mustang was on fire this weekend. It means a lot to win another Larry Perkins Trophy and to carry this momentum into New Zealand.”

Brown finished second after a late-race mistake allowed Kostecki through.

“He was the guy I was watching from the start,” Brown said.

“I made a mistake trying to defend and got on the dirty stuff. He forced me into that error.”

The race itself featured early drama, with Brown’s Red Bull Ampol Racing teammate Broc Feeney caught in a major lap-one incident that heavily damaged his car.

Despite the setback, Feeney remains third in the championship, while Kostecki leads Cam Waters and Feeney in the early standings.

The Repco Supercars Championship now heads to New Zealand for the ITM Taupō Super 440 from April 10–12.
