Kelly Racing confirms 2025 Super2 drivers

This year will mark Kelly Racing’s third season in the development series, having competed in the now-defunct Super3 Series in 2023 and a two-car Ford Mustang attack last year that saw Aaron Cameron finish second in the driver’s title.

Kelly and McLeod were team-mates during the 2023 Super3 Series, so it will be somewhat of a return for the latter.

The 2024 season proved a character building experience for Kelly, but he continued to bounce back and earn plenty of respect with some impressive drives throughout the year.

It has also been confirmed that Fletcher Insulation will be Mason’s primary sponsor for the season. Fletcher Insulation is the leading Australian manufacturer, distribution and technical support provider for the building and construction industry.

Fletcher Insulation first appeared as the primary backer of Kelly’s Ford Mustang at Bathurst before continuing at Adelaide’s season finale.

Just like Kelly, McLeod made the step up to Dunlop Super2 in 2024 and was a consistent top 10 finisher as part of PremiAir Racing. McLeod scored podiums in Perth and at Sandown before missing the Bathurst round to focus on his co-driver commitments alongside Tim Slade.

McLeod will drive the same Ford Mustang that took Aaron Cameron to two victories on the way to runner up in last year’s title. The Mustang will be prepared prior to events and transported by Kelly Racing, while experienced Supercars engineer Wally Storey, along with the RM Motorsport team will oversee McLeod’s entry at all six rounds.

The livery and supporters of McLeod’s Mustang will be announced prior to the first test for Kelly Racing at Winton on February 12.

Kelly Racing will begin its Dunlop Super2 Series campaign at Sydney Motorsport Park on February 21-23.

Mason Kelly said he is excited for the season to get underway.

“I’m feeling more confident heading into the second season,” said Kelly.

“We’ve ironed out some of the bugs we had last year and I’ll be working hard to have a good, clean season. And maybe some trophies.

“We learnt a lot about the Mustang package and how to get speed out of it. Obviously, Aaron [Cameron] had a lot of success towards the end of the year, so hopefully we can keep that form going into 2025.

“My aim for the season is to maximise every weekend we have and each opportunity that comes my way.”

Cameron McLeod said he is looking forward to working with the team.

“I did Super3 with Kelly Racing back in 2023, so there’s nothing new coming here, except for the car,” said McLeod.

“The whole Kelly Racing crew do an awesome job on running and prepping the cars, so it was no-brainer to take up the opportunity to join the team.

“The car had an excellent season last year, so it gives me heaps of confidence knowing the car is in good form and the Kelly Racing squad take good care of them as well.

“It’s going to be a great year!”
