Ford still unhappy with parity

Blue Oval figure hits out at Gen3 parity in Speedcafe Newscast podcast.

31 October 2023

Ford rebounded from a horror season to dominate the Boost Mobile Gold Cast 500, with Mustangs winning both races.

An aero upgrade put the leading Fords back in the game, with Tickford Racing’s Cameron Waters and Grove Racing’s David Reynolds triumphing at the sinuous Surfers Paradise street circuit.

Even so, DJR co-owner Ryan Story declares that Ford “is still not happy” with the parity process that has dogged the switch to Gen3.

Returning to the Supercars paddock for the first time in a year at the Gold Coast 500, Story outlines his parity frustrations in the latest Speedcafe Newcast podcast. Listen here:

Story has been battling severe health issues, sidelining him from active participation. He was an architect of the Gen3 Mustang and only recently got drawn back into the parity battle.

The latest Speedcafe Newscast also reveals Tickford Racing’s plan to replace long-time team boss Tim Edwards.

Triple Eight team manager Mark Dutton explains the team’s Surfers ‘slump”, vowing to take the title battle with Erebus down to the wire in Adelaide.

As well, Penrite Racing team principal David Cauchi talks about the team’s sudden ascendancy as David Reynolds prepares to move to Team 18 next year.

All this and more in the latest Speedcafe Newscast, presented by motor racing authority Mark Fogarty.
