Ford launches the new-look seventh-generation Mustang, paving the way for the completion of the Gen3 Mustang Supercar.

Ford’s all-new seventh-generation Ford Mustang, codenamed the S650, has been revealed in Detroit.

The S650 will form the basis for the new Gen3 Ford Mustang Supercar, which will race against the Chevrolet Camaro in Supercars from 2023.

The Supercar features in the above image from Ford, second from the right. The other cars car are, from left to right: the Mustang NASCAR, GT4, GT3 (front), drag car (back), Supercar and the Dark Horse R performance track car.

The road-going Mustang will be powered by the 2.3-litre EcoBoost and five-litre Coyote V8 engines and will be available in 2023.

The new Mustang will debut in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2024, while the Mustang will also debut in GT3 and GT4 programs in the same year.

The reveal paves the way for the completion and launch of the new-look Gen3 Mustang, which will make its racing debut at the start of the 2023 Repco Supercars Championship in Newcastle in March.

“Mustang has been an iconic road car, it’s also been iconic on the race track,” said Mark Rushbrook, Global Director of Ford Motorsport.

“It is the most successful nameplate we have ever had. It has raced from the top professional series right through to grassroots. Tracks such as Daytona, Indianapolis, Bathurst, we race everywhere.”
