Broc Feeney takes both wins in the betr Darwin Triple Crown.

16 June 2024

Triple Eight Race Engineering’s Broc Feeney has cut teammate’s Will Brown championship lead with a double win at Hidden Valley Raceway in Darwin.

Feeney took victory in the opening race of the event with an emphatic pass on polesitter James Golding proving the critical moment.

Mark Winterbottom was second across the line to claim his second podium of the 2024 season, with championship leader Brown rounding out the top three. Golding, who snared his first career pole position in the top 10 Shootout, finished fourth equalling a career-best.

Feeney won from pole in Sunday’s race to cut Brown’s championship lead, which was 136 points heading into the weekend, from 115 to 108 points, in the fifth one-two finish for the team in 12 attempts in 2024.

Reigning champion Brodie Kostecki scored a breakthrough podium in third, his first podium of his title defence and his first since the Gold Coast last October. Golding, Nick Percat and Jack Le Brocq completed an all-Chevrolet top six.

“Technically we didn’t win the Darwin Triple Crown, but we won two races and a Shootout, so I’ll certainly take that!” said Feeney.

“I’m absolutely chuffed with my two wins. I’m just pumped with back-to-back wins for the first time in my career. Qualifying was great this weekend and to back it up in the races was awesome.”

The 2024 Repco Supercars Championship will resume at the NTI Townsville 500 on July 5-7.
