Engineering change for Walkinshaw Andretti United

Geoffrey Slater splits with Walkinshaw Andretti United, resulting in an engineering change for Nick Percat.

06 June 2022

Nick Percat will have a new engineer for the remainder of 2022, with Geoffrey Slater leaving the team.

Slater joined the team in the off-season to engineer fellow new recruit Nick Percat, though he has left his post with Grant McPherson, who is head of performance, taking over the role for the rest of the season.

Walkinshaw Andretti United cited personnel restrictions behind Slater’s departure, with technical director Carl Faux returning trackside to oversee the team’s engineering program.

“Walkinshaw Andretti United can confirm the team and Geoff Slater have parted ways,” said the team in a statement.

“Everyone at WAU wish Geoff well for the future, and thank him for his contribution.

“With restrictions on numbers at track still in place, it’s critical to put the best team on the ground at events, which ultimately leads to tough decisions being made.

“Head of performance, Grant McPherson, will take over the running of car 2 for the remainder of 2022, with technical director Carl Faux to oversee the race weekend from track.”
