BJR takes covers off Toyota

Brad Jones Racing’s first Toyota GR Supra has broken cover for the first time, with the R&J Batteries-backed challenger unveiled at Winton Motor Raceway ahead of its official shakedown.

Andre Heimgartner’s 2026 Supercars Championship entry wears a new interpretation of the iconic R&J Batteries livery, bringing fresh energy to the sleek lines of the all-new GR Supra.

The traditional white, red and black colour scheme, highlighted by R&J’s signature stripes, accentuates the Supra’s aggressive styling, giving the #8 Car a purposeful, race-ready look.

The livery was meticulously applied using 3M films, while the chassis and panels were prepared with PPG paints, completing the final stages of a near four-month build of the brand-new Supra.

Brad Jones Racing was delighted to see the car roll out of the garage and onto the Winton circuit today, marking the first time the #8 Supra has roared to life and Andre Heimgartner’s first on-track taste of his 2026 machine.

The 2026 season marks the sixth year of partnership between R&J Batteries and Brad Jones Racing, with the collaboration extended late last year. 

Over that time, R&J Batteries has become a valued and deeply ingrained member of the BJR family.

Brad Jones Racing also welcomes Trico, Beta Tools and Wilson Spott to its partner line-up for the 2026 season on board Car #8. 

Fans won’t have long to wait to see the R&J Batteries Supra in action, with the opening round of the Supercars Championship taking place next week in Sydney, February 20–22.

“All I can say is ‘wow’. Look at this car, with the R&J Batteries colours on it, it looks amazing,” Heimgartner said.

“I have to thank the team for all the effort that has gone into building the Supra. It’s been a challenge, but they’ve achieved something pretty great.

“I can’t wait to get on track today and shakedown the car. I’ve had a couple of laps in the Supra before, but this one’s mine, so it’s a bit different. There’s a process to work through with a Shakedown, and while we don’t get a lot of laps, I’ll still have a good feel for the car by the end of it.

“Hopefully, it allows us to hit the ground running on the test day before racing in Sydney. There’s a lot of work to do, but this is the team to do it.”

Team owner Brad Jones said the Supra is a beautiful-looking Supercar and the R&J colours look spectacular on it.

 “I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous heading into today and seeing our first Supra head out on track, but I have full faith in our team and in this program, and I know we can achieve success with this package,” he said.
