Surprise Bathurst 1000 wildcard entrant Michael Anderson is trying to secure a big-name co-driver.
According to the latest PARKED UP PLUS podcast, Anderson wants an IndyCar star or even a NASCAR hero to partner him.
The Bathurst builder, an entrant/driver in Super3 and Super2, neither confirms nor denies he’s talking with an overseas ace. Exclusively, Anderson tells PARKED UP PLUS that he has cast his co-driver net wide.
Anderson has bought a DJR Mustang to run as a wildcard entry in the Bathurst 1000, with some support from the top Ford team. But it’s basically a backyard effort in the spirit of Mount Panorama privateers.
Anderson is awaiting delivery of the ex-Fabian Colthard DJR Mustang – the infamous 2019 Bathurst 1000 ‘debriss’ car – to embark on his allowed three days of pre-Bathurst testing.
He plans to also run it in Super2 next year, when the current Mustang becomes eligible for the second division as Supercars moves to Gen3.
Anderson’s story of his bold Bathurst 1000 effort will be told on Grant Rowley’s PARKED UP podcast on Thursday.
