Adelaide 500 set for December return 

The Labor Party’s victory in the South Australian state election will see the Adelaide 500 return to the Supercars calendar in 2022.

Supercars has confirmed the Adelaide 500 will be added to the 2022 calendar with a December 1-4 date mooted at the end of the current season.

“We congratulate Peter Malinauskas and his team on their victory in the South Australian election,” said Supercars CEO Shane Howard.

“We now look forward to working together to deliver the Adelaide 500 on the streets of Adelaide in December in what will be a spectacular season finale.”

The Adelaide 500 was cancelled by the Liberal Party in October 2020, citing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Labor Party promised to revive the event should it win the state election.

The Adelaide 500 was run from 1999 to 2020, often as the Supercars season opener.
