ONLINE NOW: Penrite Oil Sandown SuperSprint official program

The 2022 Penrite Oil Sandown SuperSprint program is online and free to read.

15 August 2022

Triple Eight Race Engineering’s Shane van Gisbergen heads into the Penrite Oil Sandown SuperSprint off the back of five consecutive race wins. After claiming a sweep of the event at Sandown in 2021, the New Zealander could make history as he edges closer to what will be his third Repco Supercars Championship title win.

Should van Gisbergen claim another sweep at the Penrite Oil Sandown SuperSprint, he will equal the record for most wins in a row of eight held by Craig Lowndes from 1996. And with 14 wins so far in 2022, van Gibsergen also has eyes on the record for most wins in a season currently held by Scott McLaughlin with 18 in 2019.

The grid for Saturday’s Race 24 will be determined by a three-part knockout qualifying format concluding with a top 10 Shootout, while Sunday’s Race 25 and 26 will be set by a single qualifying session each.

Dunlop’s soft tyre will be used exclusively across the event, with a compulsory pitstop for a minimum of two tyres for each race.

The on-track support bill includes the Dunlop Super2 and Super3 Series, Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia, Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia 86 Series and Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series.
