Your free guide to the 2023 Penrite Oil Sandown 500.

11 September 2023

The 2023 Repco Supercars Championship enters endurance mode with the return of the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 for the first time since 2019 at the Sandown International Motor Raceway.

The first of two 2023 endurance events is a curtain-raiser for the 60th anniversary running of the Repco Bathurst 1000, which will be held on October 5 to 8.

There is a change to the format compared to recent Sandown 500s. There will be four 30-minute practice sessions, two for all drivers and two dedicated to co-drivers, ahead of qualifying.

There will be a full-field qualifying session with the top 10 progressing into the Shootout to determine the grid. It will be the first Shootout for a Sandown endurance event since 2007, with grids previously set by qualifying sprint races that have been done away with for the event’s return.

The 500-kilometre race is set to start at 2:15pm local time and will conclude after the scheduled 161 laps or one lap after 5:43pm. Dunlop’s super soft tyres will be used exclusively at the event.

The below is your guide to the event, featuring the event schedule, preview, team and driver profiles and more.
